The Professional Side:
What impact do you hope to make at Interstate Engineering?
I aim to be a valuable asset to the Interstate Engineering team. With a background in the oil, agricultural, and civil construction industries as well as business management and ownership, I am hopeful that my skill sets and knowledge base will be of great use.
What drew you to the engineering field?
From an early point in my life, I realized a strong interest in art, math, and creativity. Later down the road I started to enjoy building and rebuilding small projects. Whether that be restoring an old car or building a motocross track, I gained some knowledge of what was next for me. That narrowed my pathway, and after graduating high school, I chose to attend Montana Tech to pursue engineering. Throughout the course of college, I switched majors a time or two and utilized a couple of internships while figuring out which area of engineering best fit me and civil construction is where I feel most comfortable.
What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
Professionally, I am proud of how much I have grown in multiple industries. I wanted to hit the ground running after graduating from Montana Tech, but since that wasn’t an option due to the Great Recession, I made the best out of what felt like nothing at the time. Now, 10 years later, I am much more confident with my professional abilities. My achievements along the way might not be measured in licenses, certificates, or awards, but are priceless in the realm of what I have gained through the years.
Tell us a bit about your family.
In March of 2017 I married the love of my life, Kayla. The following March (2018) she gave birth to our first and only child (so far), Aurelius. He is now a year old and loves terrorizing his mother and our house on a daily basis! We currently live in the Fort Peck area and enjoy the beauty and recreational activities that surround us.
When you aren’t working, where can you be found?
When I’m not at work I will probably be found farming. As far as leisure activities I really enjoy motorsports. Dirt bikes, snowmobiles, fast cars, boats (and fishing), the occasional golf game, and downhill skiing are the main activities I enjoy. I also enjoy traveling and exploring different parts of the world.
What inspires you?
Family, music, art, knowledge, smiles!
